Product sensestandard
Design a feature that helps Airbnb guests feel safe when booking a stay.
How to approach it
Ask what 'safe' means to different guests: physical safety, being scammed, or the listing not matching the photos.
How a strong answer opens
“Safe can mean three things here: physical safety, not getting scammed, and the place matching the photos. I'd like to pick one guest group and the worry that most often stops them from booking.”
Outline of a strong answer
Try answering out loud for a few minutes before you open this.
- Define safety types: personal, financial, listing accuracy
- Pick a guest group, for example women traveling alone
- Find the moments of worry: browsing, booking, check-in, during the stay
- Generate ideas: verified photo checks, neighborhood info, check-in sharing, 24/7 help
- Prioritize the one that addresses the biggest worry at booking time
- Measure booking conversion and safety-related support contacts
Where this question usually goes wrong
