What is your greatest weakness?

How to approach it

Name a real weakness that will not disqualify you for a PM role, show one moment it cost you, and give proof that your fix is working.

How a strong answer opens

“My real weakness is over-preparing documents before I share them. On one project it cost my team a week, so now I share rough drafts within two days, and my last review called out the change.”

Outline of a strong answer

Try answering out loud for a few minutes before you open this.

  1. Name the weakness plainly, for example over-preparing documents
  2. A specific time it slowed the team or hurt a result
  3. The concrete habit you adopted to manage it
  4. Evidence of improvement, such as feedback or a faster cycle
  5. Avoid disguised strengths like 'I work too hard'

Where this question usually goes wrong

Giving a disguised strength like "I work too hard", or naming a weakness central to the PM job with no proof you are fixing it.
