Design a ticketing experience for a live concert.
How to approach it
Ask whose problem you are solving: fans, the artist or the venue. Then pick the moment that hurts most, often the on-sale rush or entry at the door.
How a strong answer opens
“I'd like to choose whose problem we're solving: fans, artists or the venue. Assuming fans, I'll look for the moment that hurts most, often the on-sale rush or the line at the door.”
Outline of a strong answer
Try answering out loud for a few minutes before you open this.
- Clarify scope: buying, resale, entry or the full journey
- Pick fans and map the journey from announcement to show night
- Pain points: bots, surprise fees, scalping, slow entry
- Ideas: verified fan queue, all-in pricing, face-value resale, fast entry
- Prioritize the fix with the biggest trust gain
- Measure purchase completion, resale above face value, and entry wait time
Where this question usually goes wrong
Ignoring bots and resellers, or proposing fan-friendly fixes that the artist, venue and ticket seller would never agree to.
