Cost and latency trade-offs
Estimate what an AI feature costs at scale, explain what makes it slow, and choose between model size, routing, caching and batching.

In a demo, AI looks free and instant. At scale, every response costs money and takes time, and both grow with how much text goes in and comes out. Interviewers use cost and latency to test whether you have thought past the demo. You do not need real prices (they change constantly). You need to know what drives cost and speed, how to estimate roughly, and which levers to pull.
This lesson covers the Ship gate's money-and-time questions.
